Event Details

Logo of Utah Kids Ready to ReadUtah Kids Ready to Read was created in 2005 to provide early literacy training based on Every Child Ready to Read (ECRR) to Utah Librarians. With the newly released second edition of ECRR, the State Library and Utah Kids Ready to Read wants to help every youth librarian in the state receive training to pass on to their patrons.

We will go over the new Every Child Ready to Read curriculum, and view the parent workshop, one of the hallmarks of the new edition. We will discuss tips to present your own parent workshops, integrating Every Child Ready to Read into your storytimes and other programs, and finish up with a question and answer session.

In addition, every library that is represented by attendees at the workshops will receive an Every Child Ready to Read kit produced by PLA and ALSC (Public Library Association and the Association for Library Services to Children) and posters and bookmarks produced by Utah Kids Ready to Read.

You are welcome to attend any session. Chances are there will be one near you!

Location: Salt Lake City Public Library, Main Library
Audience: Librarians who serve children birth-5 and their parents
Instructor: Matt McLain, USL’s Youth Services Coordinator
